Rose Madder
I just finished reading Stephen King's Rose Madder, and while I enjoyed it immensely, I feel like the ending left a little something to be desired.
Vague spoilers ahead! If any of my readers have read this one, and understood the ending, could you let me know? What's up with the fox? And the seed? And the tree? And the rages? Either King was just winging it, or there's massive symbolism I'm missing here. Just the ending. Thanks in advance.

I deduced that the supernatural parts of the story really just represented things actually pulled off by some subconscious, empowered part of Rose. And that she finally turned and fought back with all the power of 14 years of pent-up rage. The mind is weird. I repeat, the mind is weird. For proof, read Sybil, based on a true story. The seed and the fox would seem to represent Rose trying to self-heal, and to help keep that rage from being misdirected. I think that the fact that Bill didn't remember anything that happened in that "other world" is proof that he fell unconscious after being choked by Norm. I believe that Rose, like Sybil, dissociated and let her alter-ego do the dirty job that her more meek self couldn't stomach. Anyway, that's my take on it. Good story.
